Learning how to Maintain a Stable Weight After Dieting Should be Your Ultimate Goal

Dr. James W. Smith

Dr. Smith is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist and member of the Stephenville Medical and Surgical Clinic. After graduating medical school at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, he completed a one-year internship at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, followed by a four year Ob/Gyn residency with sub-specialty training at The Ohio State University. Dr. Smith and his family moved to Stephenville in 1998.

“As an osteopathic physician, I have been trained to focus on preventative health and the patient as a whole, not just parts. Additionally, each individual is different and one treatment does not fit all. I have tried to keep this training in mind over the past several years, but it has become more difficult as we battle an increasingly prevalent disease, obesity. For most it starts as being a little over weight, but as time goes on the weight goes up. It seems to be the natural course for many people and the implications are quite serious. As body weight goes up so does the risk of multiple medical problems. This would include diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and stroke just to name a few. Obesity alters the body’s ability to function properly creating metabolic imbalances that only promote more weight gain, a vicious cycle indeed. To add insult to injury, the psychological implications of being overweight or obese are too numerous to count.

The American diet driven by a savvy food industry is without a doubt promoting the epidemic of obesity. Many diet plans are derailed by the marketing strategies of the food industry coupled with the readily available high carbohydrate, high fat and high sodium products we are bombarded with on a daily basis. On the other hand, It is astounding the number of efforts that have been made to achieve weight reduction. There are thousands of diets and hundreds of weight loss procedures, few of which actually address the underlying problem.

My medical partner Dr. Smith incorporated the Ideal Protein weight loss method into her practice 3 years ago. Over this period of time I began to notice a significant change in patients that participated in this program. Not only did they lose weight and improve their overall health dramatically, but also gained understanding of the actual problem at hand and the power to beat it. Finally, there was hope. When asked if I were interested in taking over this program in my partner’s absence, I first wanted to know more. I read the scientific data, participated in medical conferences and spoke with dieters all to learn more about Ideal Protein. The more I learned, the more I was convinced this could be a viable answer to obesity.

It makes sense medically and in every other way. So, I had to try it. At 210 pounds I was guilty of a poor diet, limited exercise, stress and high blood pressure. I did not realize how bad it was until I lost 40 pounds in 3 months on the Ideal Protein Protocol. I am amazed how well I feel, not to mention how much better my blood pressure is even after stopping my medication. Most importantly, I’m a happier, healthier person. However, I cannot give all the credit to Ideal Protein. My wife, Kimber decided to do the program with me and without her, I would not have been as successful. With a background in nutrition, she saw the benefits of Ideal Protein and has fully incorporated this into our life style. Both she and my coach Shannon understand the balance achieved with this diet and never let me stray far from the plan.

The Protocol

There are four phases in the Ideal Protein Weight Loss Protocol. During all four Phases you will receive one-on-one coaching, teaching you how your body gains weight and what you should be eating in order to maintain a balanced weight.
